Our review method

RIDE FIRST.
WRITE SECOND.

FrayerRides focuses on the things a buyer can actually feel: pull, control, fit, noise and how the bike behaves away from a perfect showroom floor.

Six-part framework

WHAT EVERY REVIEW
HAS TO ANSWER.

This is practical, repeatable field testing—not a laboratory certification. Context is included so you can decide what translates to your riding.

01

Start with the rider

Fit and performance depend on who is riding. Our launch reviews use an 82 kg (181 lb), 186 cm (6 ft 1 in) rider so you have a useful reference point.

02

Ride the intended terrain

Electric dirt bikes are evaluated on dirt, climbs and mixed surfaces—not judged only by a wheel spinning freely on a stand.

03

Test low-end response

We pay attention to throttle quality, the first hit of torque, controllability and whether the bike keeps pulling uphill under a real rider.

04

Evaluate control

Brake feel, suspension behavior, steering angle, handlebar width and low-speed maneuvering decide whether power is actually usable.

05

Notice ownership details

Noise, tire wear, assembly, shipping and build quality often matter more after purchase than another line on the specification sheet.

06

Separate claims from findings

Manufacturer figures remain labeled as advertised or claimed. We only describe something as tested when it was part of the documented riding experience.

Important distinction

CLAIMED
ISN’T CONFIRMED.

Specifications such as motor wattage, maximum range, battery capacity, torque, water resistance and dimensions generally come from the manufacturer. They are useful reference points, but they are not automatically independent measurements.

Top-speed observations in the launch reviews reflect the rider’s result. They are not a guarantee: surface, battery state, rider weight, temperature, tires, controller settings and local restrictions can all change the outcome.

WHAT DOESN’T
CHANGE THE VERDICT.

  • Whether an affiliate commission is available
  • Whether a brand likes the criticism
  • The size of a headline specification
  • How polished the retailer’s sales page looks

Every useful review needs both strengths and limitations. If a product page, retailer or spec sheet changes, the review may be updated—but the real riding notes remain the foundation.
